Mudiyum! - We Can and We Will

People always want to offer help! It gives them immense pleasure and satisfaction when they help others, then what is stopping is from helping out? This question has been on my mind for quite some time now.. I was thinking of various reasons.. But could not conclude on anything! But few of them are listed below

1. Time - It is a very big differentiating factor, there is this inertia to just find the right time to do something. And often we are busy with our own work trying to help ourselves ;-) And we keep waiting for that “time” to come 
2. Money - Money according to me is the last thing that we can offer people. Anyone can offer money, It is always about going that extra mile to do something which is much more valuable than money.
3. Don’t know where to start - Most of us need someone to take the lead, and we are happy to follow. 

So at MUDIYUM we are thinking about a few things..

I tried a few things personally that worked really well, i am very passionate about photography(I am not a pro, but i try to learn and read few things here and there to do better). I always pestered my near and dear ones to pose for me. So i thought why not i offer this - I was ready to click Portraits for people to post it on their facebook ;-) and in return of that favor, people would donate to a charity of my choice. This worked really well! What i continued to observe was, each one of us have some hobby or the other, like singing, cooking, photography etc etc, and if we offer to help someone who wants these services, and in return they can donate! So the one who offers help and the one who receives it, both are happy that they did something for the community!

Let’s see how we could use technology to create a platform that would make it easy for people to offer and receive help!

Mudiyuma? - Ofcourse Yes! mudiyum! mudiyum! mudiyum!

So what is MUDIYUM?

Mudiyum is a tamil word which translates to “Can” or “Possible”.

WHY Mudiyum?

My friend vijay pointed me to a tweet that said - “Tweeting about changing the nation is like a construction worker working from home!” He also has a blog post on it which can be found here.  It hit us hard… We always wanted to do something for the nation.. for the people.. for our community.. Mycityway itself as a product is all about serving the community and people and their needs to explore places around them… We decided that we will stop the talking, blogging, tweeting, facebook status updates etc etc and plunge straight into action, and that is how “MUDIYUM” was born! The word itself is so powerful, keep saying it four times, and you will FEEL the magic!

WHAT did we do?

We had a meeting with Team MCW India (50 Heroes), and shared this idea with them, for every Rupee they donate, MCW will match it and we will use the funds to help our community. The difference is, we do not just collect and donate, every month we will visit a chosen ashram or location, and we will spend the entire day with them, hear about their needs, and DO IT for them! So, last saturday,  team MCW India visited this beautiful Place - “Bharath Annai Illam” in Thudiyalur in coimbatore district. They spoke, they danced, they played, they listened, they helped, they fed, they enjoyed… They learned.. They taught… They did everything possible to see those amazing kids “SMILE”. More than the help we offered the kids, we helped ourselves. We realized how important it is to go and do something special for people like them. There was a lot to learn for US from those little ones! It is an awesome feeling!

What do we Plan to do?

We plan to keep the momentum going, we are planning to construct rooms for those kids! We will make sure they get proper education along with their basic needs! We will adopt this community and do everything possible for them.. Once we make sure they are all taken care of, we will find many more ashrams in and around coimbatore and do the same for them! So it is the First step towards a better Coimbatore! 

Why do we SHOW OFF and WHY does everyone need to know what we are doing?

There are so many IT Companies in coimbatore, in tamil nadu, in india and in the entire WORLD! As Mahatma Gandhi rightfully said - “You must be the change you want to see in the world” - we want to see the world changing! we want to see more and more companies and startups doing this! and HENCE we are proud to SHOW OFF (if you may call it so!)
